Simple Calming and Motivating Techniques

Do you need strategies to help maintain your calm presence?

Do you need some self motivation tools?

Many coaches and counselors charge a lot of money and extended periods of time to find the best strategies and tools for these tasks. I am giving you this simple suggestion sheet to use and share with others that may help you achieve your goals.

Test out some of these techniques. You have only to gain from them. If you find them useful, I encourage you to help me by sharing them with others.

Strategies That Calm

Tactile: Deep tissue massages, firm hugs, deep pressure touches, heavy strokes up and down the arms, warm temperatures.
Visual: Dim lighting, natural lighting, reducing flashy decorations, wall hangings and posters.
Auditory: Slow rhythmic music, headphones to block outside distractions.
Olfactory: Vanilla, lavender, chamomile.
Vestibular: Slow rhythmic rocking.
Proprioceptive: Heavy push, pull, lift, carry work, heavy blanket across shoulders, wall push ups, snug armchairs.
Oral: Chewing gum, toffee, lollipops.


Strategies That Energize

Tactile: Vigorous rubbing of arms and legs, back scratching, fidgeting, cold temperatures.
Visual: Bright colors, bright lights.
Auditory: Fast paced music, voice heavy in anticipation.
Olfactory: Citrus, cinnamon, peppermint.
Vestibular: Swinging, spinning, bouncing, dancing, exercise ball chair.
Proprioceptive: Jumping jacks, running, jumping.
Oral: Crunchy, cold, sour snacks.
