The Clothes Make the Mind?
Have you read Sarah Whittaker’s work on what your wardrobe says about your psychological state?
It is really pretty interesting stuff. Rather than pulling out the couch and ink blots Sarah goes snooping through your closet. No, your REAL closet. You know where those pants that don’t fit anymore are hanging out with the ugly sweater you aunt Myrtle gave you.
Sarah places her clients in one of 35 categories or image types. Here are a few samples.
- Parisian (did I spell that right?)
- Baby Doll
- Aristocrat
- Moon Sprite (seriously?)
- English Rose
- Boadicea
She makes this pronouncement of type based on where you would fall in three domains.
- Personality: The personality is a composite of your individual character traits. Your image must be a reflection of your emotions, the way you interact with others and think, and your character traits.
- Architecture: Architecture, your physical properties and attributes, is another aspect that defines you from another. Your body attributes consist of your body type - best explained by Dr William Sheldon’s Somatotypes, your body shape - your angles or curves, and your natural coloring i.e. your underlying skin-tone and your color palette and psychology.
- Presence: Your feminine or masculine archetypes dictate how you come across to others, your presence and the ‘feeling’ you leave others with.
I haven’t read it. But, I would if I you would like to send me a copy. …Sarah…Sarah?
